St. Mary's Dam

A dam is a structure built across a river or stream to hold back water. Dams have been used for centuries to prevent flooding. Man-made dams create artificial lakes called reservoirs. Reservoirs can be used to store water for farming, business needs, household use, fishing, boating, or other activities.

St. Mary’s River State Park is separated into two areas, sites 1 and 2.

The St. Mary's Dam monitor records the water levels and will send out alerts if the water levels increase to the point that the actions should be taken by local officials.
